We’ve got so much news to share, but for now just a quick note inviting you to join us in this tribute for Rachel and a friend who helped save her homestead!
Your gift will be sharing this with a few environmentally-aware (or maybe even not-so aware) friends!
During this time of Covid-19, we remain closed until we can safely invite visitors, we encourage friends of the Homestead to join us online and share the news!
Meet Mrs. Evelyn “Evie” Hirtle George (also in photo below)- celebrating an earlier birthday with her son, Trem Hirtle.
Evie was instrumental in saving the Rachel Carson Homestead, and ran the organization for its first few decades (yes, decades, not just years). If you appreciate that, or maybe you even know Mrs. Hirtle from her chemistry classes at Highlands School District, you appreciate how inspiring and dedicated she was and remains! The Rachel Carson Homestead is also “her baby” in many ways!
