Visits to the Homestead are scheduled by request. We are happy to announce several new docents, extending available hours! They each have special interest in Rachel’s legacy, and enjoy sharing with visitors.
We always welcome responsible mature people willing to give a few hours to apply to become a docent. You don’t need to be an expert in Rachel Carson or her writings, but you do need passion about Carson’s legacy, and to be willing to give a little time. Meeting people who appreciate Rachel Carson and her legacy – those who come to visit – is an uplifting experience, and a good trade for a little of your time. Contact us for more information.
Note that you may request a visit on any day – with advance notice. Since we try to accommodate requests for various hours, we need to reach back to you with confirmation and possibly some questions about your intended visit. Please provide as much information that we may need, such as the number of people in your group, your schedule flexibility, special accommodations, and specific interests – note that though we enjoy researching and learning more about Rachel Carson, we can’t promise to research every topic. We want to verify any information that we relay, in keeping with a value of providing accuracy and authenticity.
